84वें संविधान संशोधन अधिनियम, 2001 द्वारा अनुच्छेद 81(3) एवं अनुच्छेद 82(3) के परंतुक में संशोधन करके यह प्रावधान किया गया कि लोक सभा में राज्यों को सीटों के आवंटन का पुनर्निर्धारण वर्ष 2026 के पश्चात की जाने वाली पहली जनगणना के आंकड़े प्रकाशित होने तक नहीं किया जाएगा। अतः यह 2026 तक यथावत रहेगा।
By the 84th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2001, amendments to the provisos of Article 81(3) and Article 82(3) provided that the readjustment of Lok Sabha seats allocated to states will not take place until the relevant figures for the first census taken after the year 2026 have been published.
